Many Industrial applications in Power, Oil & Gas, and Air Conditioning plants will have various types of Heat Exchangers to transfer the heat between two or more fluids. Usually, Cooling (Sea / River) water is used as a transfer medium to exchange heat from liquid to liquid. This Cooling water may carry huge dirt particles which will most likely settle in the heat exchanger tubes, pumps, pipes, and nozzles, resulting in a continuous limitation in the efficiency of the Cooling Systems. We GEA BGR recommend installing a Self-Cleaning Strainer /Automatic Filter to protect the cooling system, which will improve the overall plant's efficiency.
The Self-Cleaning Strainer in the Auxiliary Cooling Water (ACW) Line is important filtering equipment for removing smaller particles. The Self-Cleaning Strainer is devised as a secondary / Tertiary filtering system along with the traveling band screens.
The design and construction of the Self-Cleaning Strainer are based on the Cooling water flow, type, size, and quantity of the debris in the Cooling Water Inlet.
