Cleaning System

Heat Exchanger plays a crucial role in many industries when transferring the heat from one medium to another. Fouling and Scaling of the Heat Exchanger Tubes are the significant aspects that influence the performance of heat exchangers when cooling water is used as a circulating medium. In GEA BGR, we provide an Online Tube Cleaning system for continuous cleaning of the Heat Exchanger tubes with the plant in operation.

Online Cleaning of the Heat Exchanger is carried out by passing slightly oversized Sponge Rubber Balls through the heat exchanger tube. Heat Exchanger tube cleaning system is a closed recirculating loop through which the Schmitz Cleaning Balls are injected into the Heat Exchanger cooling water. The cleaning balls pass through the tubes, clean the inner tube surface, and then collected by a ball strainer positioned downstream of the Heat Exchanger. Cleaning balls are re-injected by a ball recirculating pump skid through the ball injection nozzle installed on the Heat Exchanger cooling water inlet pipes.

GEA BGR observes our clients' application and process requirements and provides equipment such as Zero Ball Loss Technology for smaller condensers accordingly. Our In-catch technology provides zero ball loss which is proven and running successfully in our Installations.

Design Features

The design and internal construction of the Heat Exchanger Tube Cleaning System are based on the Cooling Water flow rate, together with the type of Heat Exchanger and its parameters.

  • TCS Design: V Type
  • Design standards to ASME / DIN / BS / EN/ JIS
  • Installation Position: Horizontal / Vertical / as per plant requirement.
  • Ball Strainer Size: Ranging from DN 80 to DN 1200 mm
  • Ball Strainer Internal Screen Type: Single screen / double screen depending on the size of the C.W line.

  • Debris Filter Shell: - Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, Cupro Nickel, Duplex SS
  • Internals: SS 316 L, SS 317 LN, Cupro Nickel, Duplex / Super Duplex steel
  • Pumps & Valves: SS 316L, SS 317 LN, Cupro Nickel, Duplex / Super Duplex Steel
  • The Tube Cleaning System Shell and the internal materials can be provided according to the requirements suitable for circulating water.
