Desalination

Access to potable water for Domestic and Industrial purposes remains a huge challenge throughout the globe. Very few regions are giftedwith rain and river water, as the rest of the world continues to starve for fresh and pure water for day-to-day consumption. Worldwide, many countries have started developing water desalination plants to overcome the increasing demand for drinking water. Various technologies such as Multi-Stage Flash (MSF)

Distillation and Reverse Osmosis (RO) are used to convert the seawater potable. Multi-Stage Flash (MSF) is a water desalination process that distils seawater by flashing a portion of the water into steam in multiple stages of counter-current heat exchangers.

The Multi-Stage Flash Distillation plants produce around 26% of desalinated water in the world. Maintaining the plant heat transfer rate and the overall coefficient alongside the design parameter is highly important to obtain more potable water from the brine solution. Hence, the cleanliness of the heat exchanger tubes should be maintained close to the design values to maintain the efficiency of the heat exchanger, which helps with the finest MSF plant operation.

We GEA BGR is specialized in Multi-Stage Flash (MSF) Distillation process by recommending our Online Tube Cleaning System to effectively maintain the Heat Transfer rate throughout the Multiple Heat Exchangers and Power Plant Condensers.

We also recommend an Automatic Debris Filter to remove fine foreign particles from the feed water to avoid Macro Fouling in the Heat Exchangers and Condenser tubes. The Seawater pump, Heat Rejection Section (HRJ), and Heat Recovery Section (HRS) will have successful Macro Fouling protection and an overall improvement in the performance through our systems.
